Today's society is highly dependant on computers, with a lot of the devices we use running software. Wouldn't it be interesting to know where this whole thing started?
In 1936, during World War II, mathematician Alan Turing created one of the first theoretical computer models and called it the "Turing Machine".
Its use was to decipher messages that German soldiers sent daily through radio signals, which was possible via intersecting them.
The machine worked through a tape that was read by a movable head. According to its instructions, it did one thing or another. This is what programs do nowadays.
Thanks to this ingenious invention, the Allies were able to shorten the duration of the war by almost three years, minimizing human damage and putting an end to what some people consider the greatest conflict in history. It is amazing how one of the early uses of the computer was as a military tool and now we use it to work, play video games, read the news and consume media.
